Travel Day of Action – 23 June Holyrood

A MESSAGE FROM JO DOOEY – SPAA PRESIDENT

It’s coming up on 18 months since the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and Scotland’s and the UK’s travel and tourism sectors have reached a critical time. No business sector has been more restricted or damaged by the effects of the necessary Government public health response. Although the economy is beginning to reopen, our travel industry is still trapped in the cycle of uncertainty, work and costs stemming from constantly changing Government policy and action, and poor messaging.

At the centre of our joint Save Future Travel Coalition – Travel Day of Action we are calling on the UK, Scottish and other Governments to work together – in a four nations approach – to allow international travel to return safely and to bring forward a package of tailored financial support, including extension of the furlough scheme – as a priority and a matter of urgency. We can’t afford to wait any longer, and the UK economy will be severely damaged by any further delay.

Please join us in Edinburgh on the 23rd if you possibly can, encourage your travel friends/ colleagues past + present to get involved, and let’s #speakupfortravel loudly and clearly!

REGISTER NOW – More details, social media messaging and templates will follow in further Member Updates this week!
